Why
the 5D Mark II series for HD video?
The
EOS 5D Mark II & III has become popular
in high definition DSLR video due to several
factors, and it's choice of lenses. The impressive
depth of field, the ability to use a large amount
of prime & zoom lenses and the camera's
accessory choices has made the 5D a top contestant
in the 'HD format wars'. The 5D also has several
user presets and the ability to control picture
profiles; similar to paint menus common in Sony,
Panasonic, among the many other camera models
/ manufacturers. The 5D camera also features
other common camera setups familiar to other
camera users for color profiles. The 5D also
has been used in feature films among other demanding
types of productions. The 5D also has numerous
capabilities due to it's smaller size, and is
continually supported by Canon in firmware updates,
improving the cameras features & functionality.
Why
the EOS 7D?
The
EOS 7D is also a popular camera similar to the
5D with the same menus, functions, it's slightly
lesser cost, and it's rear element size advantages.
The 7D also has a more lens flexibility allowing
several EFS lenses, EF lenses and the lenses
from other manufacturers making it a popular
camera as well. The EOS has a slightly smaller
sensor, the main difference but matches the
look & functionality of the 5D. You can
use several non Canon lenses without problems
with a 7D camera as well, compared to the EOS
5D II where communications between non-Canon
lenses becomes an issue. The 7D has also been
used in all types of productions, features among
other purposed messages and can match the 5D
in look, color + capability. There are several
DSLR lenses from other manufacturers aside from
Canon that are just as PAR in optic quality,
engineering standards and other features enabling
those interested in shooting with the 7D to
make the leap of faith into DSLR film making
or video production.
Why
shoot with the Canon EOS C300?
The
Canon C300 has XLR audio inputs enabling synced
sound as it's greatest advantage over DSLR HD
production. Not loosing track of files recorded
separately is the strong point of this camera.
There are also additional inputs & outputs
the camera has enabling time code sync, video
output to HD SDI monitors or other devices,
among some other features that make the camera
more appealing than DSLR high definition.
The
EOS 60D, Rebel Ti, EOS-1D X + many others are
also HD ready
There
are several other Canon EOS DSLR cameras from
the EOS-1D X, EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 60D, EOS Rebel
T3i and the EOS Rebel T2i among others in the
Canon EOS family shooting full HD in 1920x1080.
Some shoot to SDHC cards while others shoot
definition high video to UDMA compact flash.
All the Canon cameras on this page also shoot
still pictures as well. Canon has a good design
reputation, history and operation track record
enabling the video crew, videographer, DP/DOP
or other production person to make great high
definition. But don't forget, hiring a experienced
professional is highly desirable and critical
on any professional production, regardless the
message.
