Table of Contents: Mister Photon Media uses this Canon EOS technology:

DSLR high definition & the C300 have become a affordable alternative to RED, Vision, ARRI among other 35mm format high definition cameras. We have Canon EOS 7D, 5D Mark II cameras, as well a EOS C300. Included are lenses, filters, support items, also with a experienced camera person (videographer or DP/DOP director of photography) or a complete video camera crew anywhere you need in Colorado. If Canon DSLR or HD is not your camera choice skip to our equipment page for other professional camera choices.

As we offer several other makes/models as well. HD DSLR offers quicktime recording so there is no need to have to convert BPAV or MXF files to a movie format while transferring, saving you time. The depth of field and look of DSLR is also more film like than many 2/3 or 1/2 based imager cameras in the "average" camera operators hands; Although a skilled DP/camera person with the right experience, camera and idea can achieve the same for you as a client.

Why Canon 35mm HD for your high definition video?

Canon EOS cameras have the closest film look to 35mm cameras in the cost class of 1080 HD video and the technology is easily edited; whereas 2k, 4k, 5K or larger files from RED or other similar cameras requiring the latest Mac $$ Tower or edit hardware. The 5D, 7D or C300 (or a few other Canon DSLR's) cameras shoot a clean, full raster 1920 interlaced or 1080p image in NTSC or PAL in 24, 25 or 30p high definition or in 720 progressive as well. Your modern Macbook Pro or PC laptop can easily handle HD quicktime format movies recorded by the DSLR as well or the C300 (a dual core or more processor is recommended).

The size of these cameras enables agile camera moves and less camera stabilization as well with the stabilizers having smaller weight or size. The depth of field beats many 2/3 & 1/2 & 1/4 type cameras with Canon SLR cameras unless the right director of photography/videographer is employed. These D SLR HD cameras can be mounted in tight spaces as well making them great for more creativity & more shot choices to the director of photography. We also shoot with other 35mm video cameras from Sony (FS 700U, FX7, FX6, FX9 and the Alpha RII), as well RED if Canon is not your preferred 35mm HD format.

Canon lenses are ideal due to their various choices enabling a DP/videographer or camera person to adapt to shots & spaces quickly, as well as, use more lenses with less cargo & cost when traveling. They offer a whole world of reputable lenses for even the highest end cameras as well performing to the standards demanded by every industry professional. These cameras shoot to high speed compact flash cards enabling downloads the the high definition quicktime movies while the shoot is going and the hardware is more efficient & available than P2 or SxS. The Canon EOS 7D & 5D Mark II also have incredible low light sensitivity & high ISO/ASA with less noise and can take advantage of fast shutter speeds, + other benefits to the DP.

Mister Photon Media & Canon EOS - your covered.

Choosing ether camera for DSLR HD production enables rigging exceptional cameras in tight places, on tripods, steadicam's' stabilizers, cranes/jibs among other countless accessories enable the the DP/DOP/director of photography, cameraman or videographer capabilities for countless types of productions. The C300 DSLR cameras are also ideal for the single camera person relying solo for mobile or location production, even stock image acquisition.

The audio into a DSLR is not a XLR connection so recording good sound into the camera takes more knowledge and adaptations of sound equipment or use a C300 if you desire XLR inputs. Hiring a good sound person is wise for critical audio recording if your DP/DOP or camera person is not comfortable, as well experienced with recording audio into the camera. For more than one audio source as well, hiring a 2 person + camera crew for DSLR HD video production is advisable. NICK - As a cameraman & accomplished DP with sound mixing/recording proficiency I can adapt audio straight into the camera and record a separate audio mix for your production or can bring along a production sound mixer/recordist to assist me when we're shooting for you.

The AG-UX90

This is a 4K and HD format camera that shoots to MP4 or XAVC-HD and MOV. The camera uses XDHC/SD cards so long record times are possible too without interruption. The camera has a number of picture profiles and color profiles too enabling choices for the camera person to decide what's best for live shooting or shooting for color correction workflows with maximum HDR/high dynamic range.

Why record with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II?

The Canon 5D has become popular in high definition D SLR video due to several factors. The impressive depth of field, the ability to use a large amount of prime & zoom lenses and the camera accessory market backing this camera has made the 5D a top contestant in the 'HD format wars'. The 5D also has several user presets and the ability to control picture profiles; similar to paint menus common in Sony, Panasonic, among the many other camera models / manufacturers. The 5D camera also features other common camera setups familiar to other camera users for color profiles. The 5D also has been used in feature films among other demanding types of productions. The 5D also has numerous capabilities due to it's smaller size, and is continually supported by Canon in firmware updates, improving the cameras features & functionality.

Why The Canon 7D?

The EOS 7D is also a popular camera similar to the 5D with the same menus, functions, and size advantages. The 7D also has a more lens flexibility allowing several EFS lenses, EF lenses and the lenses from other manufacturers making it a popular camera as well. The EOS has a slightly smaller sensor, the main difference but matches the look & functionality of the 5D. You can use several non Canon lenses without problems with a 7D camera as well, compared to the EOS 5D II where communications between non-Canon lenses becomes an issue. The 7D has also been used in all types of productions, features among other purposed messages and can match the 5D in look, color + capability. There are several DSLR lenses from other manufacturers aside from Canon that are just as PAR in optic quality, engineering standards and other features enabling those interested in shooting with the 7D to make the leap of faith into DSLR film making or video production.

Why The Canon EOS C300 series or C500 ?

The Canon C300 has XLR audio inputs enabling synced sound as it's greatest advantage over DSLR HD production. Not losing track of audio files recorded separately is the strong point of this camera. There are also additional inputs & outputs the camera has enabling time code sync, video output to HD SDI monitors or other devices, among some other features that make the camera more appealing than DSLR high definition. Canon LOG files this camera enables among more sophisticated controls over every aspect of shooting make the Canon C300 and the C500 cameras (not detailed here), the top contenders.

The Canon EOS DSLR are also HD ready

There are several other Canon EOS DSLR cameras from the EOS-1D X, EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 60D, EOS Rebel T3i and the EOS Rebel T2i among others in the Canon EOS family shooting full HD in 1920x1080. Some shoot to SDHC cards while others shoot definition high video to UDMA compact flash. All the Canon cameras on this page also shoot still pictures as well. Canon has a good design reputation, history and operation track record enabling the video crew, videographer, DP/DOP or other production person to make great high definition. But don't forget, hiring a experienced professional is highly desirable and critical on any professional production, regardless the message. These cameras will match well with the Canon EOS 7D, 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III among other HD DSLR cameras sharing internal technology.
