Nick Teti. A grip assists many people on the camera crew, mostly the gaffer, videographer or director of photography. They provide lighting assistance, rigging (setting up camera equipment) and also set up grip equipment as needed. I provide grip, gaffer and other camera support help. My equipment list is here, and we can also bring a grip truck too. A grip may also be a gaffer, handling lighting, rigging, moving camera equipment, and suggesting ideal lighting including locations to the DP/DOP. Or they follow all ideas of the DP assisting as needed.

Sometimes a sound person can double as a grip or gaffer on less demanding shoots, I can help there too.
